I love detail, but I think this piece is going a bit overboard with it. I don't like the ruffles around her waist. Bad choice of transition imo. Looks like the big fish isn't finished.
I think the tail is the worst part of the whole piece. Way too much texture. I think if they simplify that, it would look so much better, especially against the highly detailed base. I look forward to the evil sister.

I can dig that POV.
I don't mind the waist ruffles as it looks very Little Mermaid Ariel or when humans put on their mermaid tails. I'd like a better and more organic looking transition, too... but this is fine.
On the tail details, I love that all the scales are painstakingly added. It gives a fuller texture and pushes it further to realism.
Hopefully more details will be added to the fish. I'm sure the sculptor just got caught up in the figure and base by this stage.
For me, I really like what's here and it's the paints that will make or break this. I liked the design of the twins together piece, but the paint killed any desire for me to own them.
Also looking forward to the bad sister!
