Matte Lacquer for Batman statue?

Hello. I recently ordered the new 52 Batman statue online (not to be confused with the rebirth statue). From all the reviews I saw it looks awesome. The only thing I don't like is the metallic look to the grey of his batsuit. I've heard of matte spray lacquers that can be used on shiny/glossy statues to give them a more muted look.
I'm wondering...

1.) Would a matte lacquer work on this statue?
2.) If so, which lacquer spray would you recommend?
3.) Would a lacquer have any negative effects on the statue?

Thanks in advance!

Depends on what look are you going for. Might make his suit like a flat aluminium which doesn't look great for a costume.
Unless maybe it's armour or something. Gotta be mindful of that. There's Testors dull coat or Krylon matte finish.
Seem to do the job really well.
