Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

I posted this on RS where they're all salivating at the mouth, but you can clearly see it's looks completely different.

(And contrary to what someone implied on RS, the lighting situation/exposure is very similar).

Judging by the comparsion the state of the original prop must be ultra poor, a latex prop from 1983 I can't see it performing any well in 2020. That's the natural decay of latex, I've seen it a lot before, the material decompose itself, most of the old latex stuff from movies are cringeworthy for that reason. Latex is good for a few years, is not mean to last.

I was in a Lucasfilm archives expo and there was everything but the rancor, they brought the resin maquette concept instead of the prop itself, that says it all.

For that price they should have tried to sculpt one like Sideshow or Gentle Giant did instead of duplicating a likely decomposed prop that nowhere resembles it's original former glory.

Not including action figures are there now four licensed Rancor Collectibles?

1. Illusive Concepts
2. Gentle Giant
3. Sideshow
3. Regal Robot

When that was the only game in town I considered it for a minute. Fortunately the Gentle Giant came along and saved me

The Sideshow is huge!!!! It’s also the new shiny addition to my collection, which gives it temporary bonus points. I really like it, and I’m glad I bought it, but I actually like the Gentle Giant more.

I like the GG version a lot plus it has Malikili.
I also would rather go with that one over SSC, great quality, weight, concept.
I saw the Illusive Concepts in person and it looks impressive with extremely dark colours. But it would not be my nr 1 choice.
I do not have RRs Rancor in hand yet. But GGs Rancor is still the one to beat at the moment imo.
