Lex in a nice suit holding a globe or book in one hand and a sharp piece of kryptonite in the other behind his back would be nice.
HOWEVER, My fear, is it would look too "Ken doll" and not enough "Sideshow DC".
So in saying that, despite the character archetype and for the sake of the statue, SS should probably build the mech suit. Its not really who he is as a character, but I don't feel it would really translate well in PF.
There's other characters that could stand alone in a suit (Riddler, Joker, Two Face) because they are esthetically twisted and intriguing in some way. Lex, he's just a bald guy in a suit.
If SS does build the mech suit, I'd keep the cape out his hand despite what some posts show. He's going next to Superman and double cape action would look a little strange. A big chunk of kryptonite would do just fine.

I think it takes quite a bit of brains to build that damn suite though, so that still plays off Lex having the brains over Superman, yet still needing the protection since hes a mere mortal / human, where Supes could run around nekkid if he wanted to... smart ass billionaires in comic books, at least most of them make most of their own toys to play in.

Supes tattered cape at Lex's feet would be cool...or something to do with Kryptonite. I'd love to have a Lex in my collection if its done right. Battle armor or nothing, don't need a guy in a tuxedo.

I imagine some part of this piece will feature kryptonite, perhaps a ring.

well if he's in the battle suit, he doesn't need the ring as various parts open and expose kryptonite
