i never saw any of the cell shaded TF pieces in person but i think it would be difficult for this technique to be executed successfully on any mass produced item. these xmen pieces look sloppy and heavy handed, it can be an incredible effect in the hands of a master painter. this vegeta is by @lusen426

I'm in several Dragonball fb groups, where I see cel-shaded paint-ups...but that is the best I've ever seen!
It doesn't look real.

Rarely does it look THAT good, even when "pro's" do it. That's amazing right there.

I had large and small ones. I kept all the large ones and sold all the small ones. A lot less care was taken with them and I also could see lots of issues in their future. The large ones (in my experience) did not have this issue.

Also of note….the way NOT to do this would be the soundwave cardholder. Originally $60 and I bought one on clearance for $18. I still returned it. There is a reason they only showed that in advertisements as a render.

I don't understand why Jean is falling backwards. I get she could be doing a "push" with her psychic ability, but this seems like an odd pose.
Also Storm's face just has something wrong with it. She looks bored.
