So, my wife turns to me and says, "I hate to break it to you, but if we put in more shelving you're just going to fill it up with statues eventually." I stopped a moment, kind of dumbfounded, and responded, "Yeah? What's your point?" At which point she looked at me a little irritated and walked away.

I mean, seriously, that's the whole PURPOSE of putting in the new shelving!

Reminds me of another conversation we had, this was around 1987 and before we got married. We were at a party at a friend's apartment on the upper west side (NYC) when she said she was looking to buy a black skirt. I responded absolutely seriously, "Really? Don't you already own a black skirt?" All the guys at the party kind of nodded their heads, the women looked at me and then all of us guys in disgust, and we had no idea what had just happened.

Is there any hope communication will ever get better? We've been together 24 years and I still walk straight into these brick walls...
No, we make it that way to keep you on your toes lol. The shelving thing sounds like she isn't so fond of you buying statues and in her mind the states are a waste of money. However, if that is what you like to do and you make the money and pay for it then you have every right to do so. She will eventually except it but she doesn't have to like it lol.

The shirt comment was because we do not like to wear the same clothes constantly and love to shop. To be honest, all the clothes/shoes we buy isn't any different than the statues you get. Do not bring that up in the next argument though lol.

There's a famous quote that goes something like "Men fall in love hoping that their woman won't change. Women fall in love hoping they can change their man". And that's where all the problems come from folks...

I strongly suggest rejecting the "man cave" concept.

We are not neaderthals grunting to primitive instincts.

Make no mistake...

It's a throne room from which to rule.

Hail to the King baby!

EVery man needs a sanctuary from the wife. You can call it a mancave; private room; or no wife allowed room etc. But we all need a room to ourselve.

i call it "her friends vagina." it may not be time to myself but i prefer to share in a social environment. it does give my wife an hour to herself since her friends house is a 55 minutes drive roundtrip
