I’m so glad Kotobukiya is revisiting Black Cat. I like the first one well enough, but this one is really exciting. The costume is black, the hair isn’t in the ahoge style (hopefully it doesn’t get added later on), and I personally prefer this pose. The way her leg is lifted suggests a certain playfulness to the character. As Hunter Frost pointed out, the way she’s holding her jewelry resembles a thrilled woman holding her shopping bags. Black Cat is clearly delighted with her latest spoils, and it is infectious.
This new Black Cat looks closer to the Black Cat in the comics. I also appreciate that there will be a jewelry motif, which pays tribute to her reputation as a cat burglar.
My hope for this statue is that it includes a more decorative base. I would like to see jewelry, coins, bars of gold, dollar bills, and other valuables scattered around her feet. It would add to the charm of the statue. Other Black Cat statues have also added similar motifs.
Perhaps Kotobukiya will continue with this trend.
