Thanks for the tip. I did just that. The representative was very friendly but said he unfortunately could not give me a quote until the statue was in-stock. He estimated between $120-$150, so the buyer pays actual overseas shipping cost. The total will probably be lower than buying directly from H.M.O. but the difference is minimal enough to where I'd rather do so because at least H.M.O. is nice enough to cap the cost at $150, even if it ends up being more. Then again, the possibility of customs fees might be an issue to consider, too.

don't take it 100% as the gospel though, there is once you start approaching very expensive stuff (though it's still minuscule compared to what others pay). In general you won't be paying that in this hobby unless you order like some 1:1 statues or something :P

You mean the guys I ordered from? Don't think so.

I get physical monthly letters from FedEx saying they paid U.S. customs and FedEx itself looking to collect reimbursement.

So far it's been like $60. Since most states have a sales tax we don't have high customs fees.

First customs I've ever been charged but I think it's because of the value.

Fedex can charge broker fees, but yes if it's of a certain value there is a (relatively) small customs fee. The dollar amount is quite high though, I'm surprised you paid a custom fee unless it was either marked incorrectly or you're paying high aftermarket rates (like overpaying even magneto high :P).

Here's some info on UPS' broker fees: https://www.ups.com/content/us/en/sh...toms/fees.html, fedex probably has a similar page.
