People should also specify if the rate they are using is from SDCC, because artists tend to jack up their prices for San Diego.

sometimes. depends on the artist and the sketch itself. It happens less frequently now that the prices are usually over $100-$150 per sketch now.

I suppose it's all dependant on artist, the character and how the sketch turns out. I got a Wonder Woman from Adam Hughes a few years back (when he was charging $100). I've been offered $1000 for it.
