What we got here is just a straight up future scifi movie, which doesn't feel like it's even in the same genre as the previous movie.

Exactly where I am in it. The first one worked perfectly as a single film, w/o the need for a sequel IMHO. This looks to be an on demand excursion at best for me at this point.

Considering it's been 20 years since the last one, I think a new generation of young viewers who never saw the original will probably flock to see this alien invasion flick since it also stars Liam Hemsworth of Hunger Games fame.
I'm guessing it'll earn at least $100 million opening weekend next June.

This looks to be another attempt at a cash grab by the studio. I'll more than likely see it in the theater as I am a fan of of this genre of films but I'll be going in with low expectations.

While I'm not too excited for this sequel, I did just treat myself to this rather lovely Steelbook of the new remastered version of ID4. It states less than 200 left but I have no idea if that is just current stock or if these are limited at all.

I don't usually buy them, but this one looks great and it's pretty much one of my favorite ever films so...
