Weta is primarily an effects company and I think the statue was done as movie production maquette for the movie design work. The director may have decided later to use CGI to blend the bodysuit into the body. That doesn't excuse trying to sell something that doesn't match movie unless this was marketed as replica of the production maquette.
Similar example of this was the Sideshow Legendary Size Figure of Neytiri from Avatar produced by Legacy. Legacy originally made the maquette for the movie product and later used it to produce the collectible. Since it was a production maquette as part of design development, it doesn't look like the final CGI face design of Neytiri.
