I've said this for a while. HCG makes really horrible quality products. Which is why I've never ordered any of their statues. I only own one HCG piece which is the 1:1 endo arm, that came out pretty good. I had a little more confidence in that piece when I ordered because they used the original molds. It actually came out very well.

With this Batman cowl I figure, they can't really screw up black. Honestly, if they manage to screw this up I'll ask them to pay me for wasting my time.

I only order the pieces from them I feel they can't screw up. You could never convince me to order any of their statues though.

That's just a matter of opinion. I think they have come along way. I own and am very happy with:

Endo arm
Akuma Statue
Predator hand with Disc
Chestburster
Jeepers Creeper statue (could not have been done better by Sideshow)
Sleepy Hollow Statue (amazing detail)
Underworld Salene and werewolf Statue
1:1 Alien Bust
Total Recall pistol Replica
Resident Evil Axeman Statue
T-virus vials
Aliens. Pulse Rifle
RE Alice 1/4 Statue (way underrated)
Bruce Lee Lifesize Bust
Joker Bust Batman with Sonar head

Just a few good ones I own that come to mind.

I can see the cheaper 1/6 statue stuff not being very detailed but most the stuff I have ordered has me very pleased. On a ratio, I have actually sent tons more back to Sideshow because of bad QC.

their prop replica stuff usually turns out not too bad. I would never touch one of their statues either. I haven't liked any of their statues. I can only imagine how much better the Underworld license would've been in Sideshows hands.

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

The HCG Batman bust based on TDK was really good, i think i am gonna pull the triger on this one as well. The only concern is if teh Toyonomi version was better?
Judging from the pictures i've seen the base on this one looks far more impressive.

The price is abit steep though, i expect much less it's not even a bust

Damn shame... especially since items with screen lineage do exist.

been wondering how big these cowls are?
The Toyonomi version for instance is smaller than a bust?

I finally went on and pre-ordered the HCG cowl

Probably a dumb question but does anyone know the depth on the cowl? I'm wondering if it will fit in a Billy shelf from Ikea ? I have 11" of depth in order to close the glass doors.
