I doubt it was a mistake. XM would've had to approve the styrofoam and everything. If there weren't any compartments for the extra plugs (due to factory error) they should've caught the mistake way earlier.

Guessing:

1. They tried to ship without the extra parts and wanted to see how customers would react. Maybe they thought most customers would prefer to have Venom displayed fully anyways.
2. It wasn't possible to fit the parts into the two boxes and they always intended to ship the parts to customers afterwards (much cheaper to ship all the parts to the distributers and have the distributers send it to customers).

Either way it there would've been way less drama if XM told everyone not to worry before the final product shipped.

I dunno, the extra resources (time, people, money) to ship out parts after the fact doesn't seem worth the "chance" no one would complain. I don't know why I'm bothering trying to figure out XM logic though.

At least XM looks to be keeping to their very much advertised part of the deal. Venom looks WAY better without the tendrils taking way from the rest of the piece.

Also, Darren, are you saying that Venom looks a:3 in size? He does look HUGE next to your other pieces, but I wouldn't have assumed he was 1:3. Just another oversized piece (because math is hard for XM).

I feel like that Venom is way too big!

...I guess I still prefer the size of Venom when he was first introduced. Or closer to that size.

Agreed. He'd probably look good with the Spidey Comiquette, though, since that piece is also overscaled.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if this was a regular sized character ...this statue would def be 1/3 scale. For example if they made Spider-Man this size.

Venom is tricky because he doesn't have a defined size. When McFarlane drew him he was a muscle man who was beefier than Spider-Man but nowhere near Hulk's size. So I don't think there will ever be a definitive answer to if this Venom is 1:3 or 1:4 scale. It depends on how you want to view Venom. For me I now have a quarter scale Hulk sized Venom now. My previous two were quarter scale "regular sized" Venoms.

Here are some examples.

Smaller "more regular sized" Venom (McFarlane, Bagley, Stegman...)

Hulk sized Venom (Deodato)
