Question Wolverine Danger Room Sessions (Brown) - Pre-order or wait?

What do you think? Opinions on which course might be more prudent/wiser?

I've heard some people say that prices will drop once the pre-order phase is over. I have seen this happen with some product releases, but that's usually with 'flops', for example the Kotobukiya Kitty Pryde Bishoujo. But the DRS Wolverine statue is a highly anticipated release, so I have my reservations.

People always ask me in my channel if I pre-order stuff from Koto. This is the honest truth; I don't. In my experience, there is no need. Kotobukiya does not produce exclusives therefore the pieces are easy to find through LCS and online retailers.

I would recommend you to wait for the reviews and then look for the best price. Even if the piece becomes an instant hit, you will have plenty time to shop around. Good luck with your decision.

By the way, do you think prices will fall further after it's released? The MSRP is $219.99, but I've seen these statues sell for under $200 at some retailers, at the current pre-sale phase. When (what month) do you think prices might rise above the MSRP of $219.99? The release date is March 2015, so it's right around the corner.

No reason to rush with Kotobukiya unless it's an SDCC exclusive. But I would buy in the first few months. It's after that the prices shoot up on popular pieces when they sell out. And the original Danger Room Wolverine goes for a lot. So people that missed out will be getting this one. Personally I feel this one is better than the original too.

I don't know about price drops on Kotobukiya stuff that much. I imagine you can get some similar deals from eBay, Amazon, BBTS, and others. But nothing massive I would think.

You have plenty of time to grab a new release below retail price without preordering. I usually go straight to ebay to see which sellers have theirs in hand first. A lot of the time, those same sellers are selling theirs for under retail price.

Cool

Thanks for your opinions fellas.

This is a must-have for me because I have the 1st blue/yellow DRS Wolverine, and have the X-Force Wolverine coming in the mail this week. Now this brown Wolverine will make my life complete!

I completely agree. In cases like this, ebay is your best friend.

Now to answer your previous question, jy90274; I would recommend to wait for information on the ES. If the edition size is too large (like Hulk's 4000) then you have more than a year to get it below retail. Hulk still sells pretty low in most places. If the edition size is limited between 1500 to 2000 (Magneto or Spidey) then you should buy within the first 3 months to really save money. After that, they become harder and more expensive to find. In most cases, Unpopular or darker characters get a slow start and they stay behind for quite some time. Case in point, Daredevil or Warpath.

I just noticed something - his claws are on top of his hands rather than coming out of his hands. Wtf is that!!!

That's how it was, maybe still is in the comics. I haven't read the comics in a while. The movie Wolverine claws are different.
