Wasn't that amulet/talisman found on one of the dead city council member. And with that, she was able to find the killers of those innocents and the council members?
The city councils were the ones able to contact her when they knew there was trouble and needed her help I believe.

Nice! The other thing my brother mentioned, that they spent their budget on soundtrack. Stevie Nicks doesn't disappoint though.

Yes, the soundtrack was fantastic! Unfortunately it was also one of the main reasons it took so long for the movie to be released on home video - I had heard getting the home video rights for all the various songs was a nightmare that took forever. Back in the day, the only way to get it was bootleg VHS. Thankfully that's all behind us now. I have to admit, someone releasing a Taarna statue was something I never expected to see. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to purchase.
