I would say that is ripe for future grail status, except I dont think such a thing exists anymore. There is just so much product out their now that you really dont have to hunt for anything, and just about everything that used to go for big bucks has taken a hit. Plus the buy in is so high now that I think its scaring away new collectors from getting in. Just prohibitively expensive a hobby to take up. Even the 'gateway' stuff at smaller scales is expensive.

The irony of this potentially being the worst time to be a collector is that it might be the best time to be a collector if you can still grab these pieces with their low ES.

With an EX. ES of 300 I guess the time is now to get my order in for this piece. I definitely don't want to be on the outside looking in on this statue.

If I was ordering this one, the EX is a must and 300 isn't a lot (so I would be putting in my preorder as well).

Combined with prices and shipping costs it’s not surprising.
The bare bones PF for licensed characters is now $700. Most recent PFs have been between that and $1000.
With costs of everything else going up, statues are going to be even lower priority for people.
I think sideshow completely nailed this statue. I dig the Odin and Thor extras, and Jormungandr on the back of the throne is a cool detail. But personally I don’t need a Loki. I’ll enjoy seeing you alls pics though.

I think that's a big part of the hobby nowadays, just seeing the cool statues that are being made and enjoying them from afar, and only biting on the pieces that you truly need/want in your collection.

It always has been and there have always been the "window shoppers" as you describe.
It's not so much these new ES numbers are so small, just so many previous statues have been so inflated.
Pre Infinity War, any kind of Loki would have easily been getting a 1-2K higher ES. Now the MCU has totally deflated. Probably won't be another Loki 1/4 for a long long time and that is how it should be.

That's where I'm at. I have my list of characters and I'm sticking to it. At these prices, I'm not going to pick up a statue impulsively. That, and a lack of space, have me laser focused on the last 5 characters I need to finish my collection. Loki looks fantastic, but he's not on my list.

I'm glad SSC finally made Loki at this scale.
If they can deliver on production pieces this should be great in hand.
I would venture to guess if this was done a few years ago (or more) the ed. size would have still been pretty low.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Well, that's what I keep telling myself to justify this high pricing mess. But I still enjoy the sculps/work, & will hang on to see how far this thing goes. As for this Loki sculpt after all these years in wait(?), deserved more love/support (es), but that's where we're at, just hope it lasts.
