might be applicable here, even if its from a dinosaur toy retailer:

An important update for our American customers with regards to parcels sent from Everything Dinosaur to the USA.
We have received the following information:
U.S. Postal Service (USPS) have confirmed that the de minimis withdrawal on the postal channel from 2nd May applies only to goods sent directly FROM China and Hong Kong.
What this means:
A postal shipment sent from the UK (even if the goods are made in China) will be treated as a UK export and remain eligible for de minimis clearance into the USA.

Explain it to me like I'm 5. Why are CEOs and companies, suddenly going to have a soul and think "you know what? I don't care about stockholders and how much money I have in the bank anymore, let's hire locally (good, I agree) and pay them 5-10X as much. That'll be good for our bottom line.".
Does anyone think this is actually going to happen? Even in the 0.1% chance it does.... It'll take YEARS for this to happen, even if that was the plan.
Genuine questions, want to know.

We don't. No rational person expects phones, laptops, and other electronics to suddenly stop being made outside of China, Vietnam, Korea or Japan. Or clothing to move away from China, India, Guatemala, etc.
We only need to make more things like medicines and microchips here. Things that are important to national security. And we want to be more competitive with vehicles, steel, ship building, agriculture, etc. China can feel free to make stuff like toys and sneakers. If any major company decides the tariffs are too high and wants to invest jobs in the U.S., then that's just a bonus.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I am guessing u wasn't around in the 80's 90's. United Stated of America use to be the number uno on manufactory and export and IP. The came Bill Clinton and we are now all living in Welfare like Europe.
Tariffs will level the $1T dollar deficit we are having right now 2025. Sit down and let a real President from the ppl work for the ppl.
How is the border crossing these days?

Generally speaking, countries develop and evolve in a set pattern - Agricultural > Industrial > Commercial & Financial & Services > Technological (in modern time). The majority of the labour force usually follows the changes and migrates to the latest stage of the development. For example, a lot of Baby Boomers worked in the factories, while many Millennials and GenZ-ers work in finance and tech sectors. The problem of moving the factories from China and other places back to the US is that the current labour force of America is not trained and equipped for factory jobs. GenX-ers are already on their way to retirement. I wonder how many Millennials and GenZ-ers would really like to work at factories if they have other choices? The industrial age of America had long gone. Time had changed. People had moved on. Society had progressed. Unfortunately, Trump and many like him don't seem to realise that. They choose to look back with nostalgia to the golden and mighty industrial age that is no longer relevant in 2025 America. Now, they are trying to bring back the dinosaur that won't fit in the modern society. Disregarding the resources and time required to build factories in the US for a moment, even if Trump had succeeded in bringing every single factory back to American soil, and construction would start today. Those newly built factories would likely be fully or nearly fully automated using today's technology. Only a small number of human beings would likely required to operate them. So, Trump's idea of "stealing jobs from other countries" won't work out the way he imagines. America won't be benefited by it. What is the point of causing all those chaos with the trade war then?

LMAO, conservative charity is the just the greatest ponzi scheme ever created.
If you give god 10% of your income and say pretty please, he'll make you rich.
Meanwhile Kenneth Copeland owns 3 private jets.
Do those studies you read say how much of that money goes to private jets and sunday worship productions vs actual outreach?

Yep, some smaller, targeted tariffs are fine and even necessary, but the last time the US tried to implement such an aggressive and wide-sweeping tariff policy, the results were pretty bad...
The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, enacted in 1930, is widely considered a significant factor in the Great Depression and its subsequent extension. By raising tariffs on imported goods, the act triggered retaliatory measures from other countries, leading to a sharp decline in global trade and worsening economic conditions worldwide.
