That's interesting. Perhaps it has something going for it after all. Or maybe those reviewers are diehard Tolkein fiends like myself.
Well, it all seems like an ill-advised and potentially tasteless venture in my eyes. And compressing the running time for the trilogy into a mere three hours doesn't sound like it will aid the audience's comprehension any (that is, for the unannointed few). I mean, think about it: Enya meets Julie Taymor on their way to Woodstock. Tom Bombadil prancing around onstage putting daisies into the orc's crossbows, etc. Hmmm, I dunno. I remain skeptical.
However, I would go see it, if only to make my own appraisal since I don't trust professional critics very much. Alas, our spavined economy is floundering around in it's own blood. To spend all that money right would be unwise.
