I'd actually like it if JND made their own line of characters - hyper real, obviously.

In fact, I would have preferred if JND used the Platinum Line to really go wild, and do one or two characters per year, based on a particular theme - e.g. Cyberpunk, Fantasy, Horror.....etc. Like I said, hyper real, hyper detailed, low ES.

While I'm satisfied with WW JL, as a specific product, it doesn't stand out from what they've done in the past.

If we're talking about I.P's, then I would love it if JND abandoned the idea of chasing lines, such as DCEU, MCU, or Star Wars - and just made random characters from selected movies.

As a premium company, they should really now be looking to distinguish themselves from the crowd. Stop trying to compete with the alsorans and has been of the industry, and really let their products find their own loyal following.

I kind of agree. I would be cool if they used the platinum line to do one off type pieces.
Tony Soprano, Luke Skywalker, Rocky, Selena, Indy, Arnold Conan, Oldman Dracula, etc...
I know nothing about how licenses work, so not sure if thats possible.

I imagine it depends on the I.P. in question. I think for certain properties it might make sense to try to acquire a "general license" - e.g. comic related. However, as I understand it - no one grabs a "general license" for movie franchises - as it's simply too expensive (especially if you want exclusive rights!!) - so what we see is companies chasing very specific licensing for individual movies or characters.

I imagine it's much harder to only pay a fee for a specific character - rather than a full movie. As gaining the exclusive rights to Indiana Jones specifically - but not the Raiders of the Lost Ark movie - renders the movie license pretty redundant. Who wants the RotlA movie license if the Indiana Jones character is already spoken for.

Posted on FB by Dan Hautea. I thought this might be a new JND piece, but I'm hearing this is an old Cinemaquette piece with custom clothing.
