89 yr old Driver almost kills Madjazz
The bastard ran his car into a crowd and sent 27 people to the hospital. He just missed me by 2 feet. I went into shock for a few minutes after I realized the scope of what had happened.
I was going to go help other victims, but because it happened in the middle of a festival, there were about 15 cops there immediately. I figured the best help I could be was to stay out of the way.
I did walk back a minute later to take a picture of the car so I would not forget this.
If I could have said one thing to the Driver it would be "I hope you think holding onto your license for the last two years was worth the price all these people had to pay."
I'm sure I'll have a really bad attitude toward elderly drivers for the next little bit. I stopped thinking of that South Park episode with the elderly drivers as comedy and started thinking of it as a public service announcement.

Damn. Sorry to hear that, Mark. Good thing you're ok but hopefully the others pull through.

Here are the pics I took. And before anyone asks - I did not stay to talk to the police as I would have been a lousy witness. All as I saw was the aftermath, as the vehicle came up from behind me. I would have added no value except to keep them from witnesses who might actually be able to help.
What a creepy sound listening to a car windshield breaking due to a body bouncing off of it.
Bad old man.

Thanks Primal. No deaths thank god. The worst injuries were broken bones it sounds like. Someone saw the car coming and pulled a baby carriage out of the way. Thank the Lord for that, because at the height of the carriage and the front of the car, that would not have been a good combo.

Accidents of this type could happen to anyone. Until the accident can be investigated you can't be sure that his age played a part, but I do agree that regular re-testing of drivers in high risk categories should take place on a regular basis.

The intellectual side of me knows that and wants to take a wait and see approach. I recognize that my closeness to this has impacted my attitute and I stated that up front.
For now,
Bad old man.

Glad to hear you're okay, Mark - It seems something just like this happened not too long ago somewhere in California - IIRC that old man's accelerator also stuck

Glad your okay dude. I've been saying it for years that they need to do something about these old people driving. You should have to go and take either another road test or some kind of reflex test once you turn 65 and then every 5 years. That old dude had no business driving.
