I know many are going to Facebook groups over forums, but you know one major thing I love about forums like this?

Subject gets one thread and all discussion is within it.

On Sideshow Facebook group it is not crazy to say 50+ discussions on this topic as people want their take to not get buried in comments of the dozens of posts.

Good job everyone here.

What I think will happen is the CGI and visual quality is going to tank. Big time. Sony does not have the money, and I bet Disney would roadblock, to get the top CGI teams that have been on the last two films. Mysterio’s effects were AMAZING. No way could Sony have done that on their own.

I hope it’s not so bad bc I was really stoked to see a solid Sinister Six themed movie. I just have no faith in Sony being able to cast, write, and execute it.

I really could care less about Spider Man being intertwined in the MCU. It was fun, very much so, but I think he is fine solo. And the MCU is fine without him. I didn’t want him to be an Avenger. I was him to be SpiderMan. Just like I want Storm to be an X-Man, not the wife of Black Panther.

A real shame creatively and for the fans. Spidey is part of a connected universe now, thanks to Civil War and everything thar followed it. At this stage, as much of a Spider-Man fan as I am, not sure I’m interested in a film that changes that after 22 MCU movies.

Playing devils advocate here a bit but let’s be honest, neither of the MCU Spider-Man films were “great.” At least not IMO. They were fun and while it was cool to see the character intertwined into the larger MCU I think what he needs now is his own film or series of films on his own. No Avengers, no S.H.I.E.L.D. with a greater emphasis placed on Spider-Man and his rogues gallery. That being said I’m not confident Sony is the studio to take him there. Venom looked like a train wreck of a film and I still haven’t seen it. I literally have no desire to do so and possibly never will either. However if Sony can develop the character by pushing him beyond the high school setting with more emphasis placed on Spider-Man and less on Peter Parker then I’m willing to keep an open mind as I’d rather see that than a third film in the existing formula.

if Venom is any indication of how Sony is going to handle the spider-man universe and lore, then its already DOA

Well, as a comic fan, you have to realize that Hollywood, whether it be Sony, Disney, Fox or whoever, will eventually crap on everything, so it might be good or it might be bad. At this point, who can really tell. I'm very glad Captain America and Iron Man are done in the MCU for a while. They would make them both into something they were never intended to be anyway. If you think I'm wrong, just look at Hulk and Thor.

You would have gotten past highschool in the proposed 4th film. The third would have been his senior year and would have focused more on him and what happened after the twist in FFH.

I was actually happy they did such a focus on younger Spider-man, something the comics did as well. His character arc was being handled with care and given time to grow into adulthood.

I think negotiations will continue though the press release Sony issued was a bunch of crap.

I haven't found any of the seven live action Spider-Man films to be great personally. My favorite bits of Spider-Man have been him in the MCU movies (Civil War, Infinity War, and Endgame).

I will say Vulture and Mysterio have been my favorite villains on screen and I think Holland has the potential that I never saw in Maguire and only a bit in Garfield (side note: Emma as Gwen was best love interest). Honestly if they had him go to college and shed that supporting cast dead weight I could finally get a Spider-Man I loved, but I doubt that will happen.

Seems Sony is trying to do damage control with all the fans being upset with the split... Sony is saying that Feige is to busy to work on anymore Spider-Man movies with Disney getting X-Men and Fantastic Four back... So basically Sony is implying Disney doesn't want Spider-Man anymore... yeah right.. I have a feeling Sony is going to dig itself a big hole and tank the franchise again.
