Do you think that there will ever be a "Statue bubble" and eventually the prices will have to start coming down?

The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

with the price of oil so incredible low, everything should actually be incredibly cheaper
it does not make sense that instead of things getting cheaper, things are getting more expensive

I agree. But even aside from that... statues were more of an expensive collectible because they are so rare. Now it seems we have 5x the amount of companies putting out 2x more statues yet instead of competition driving prices down, all statues seem to be going up in price. I was reading the Skaar PF originally sold for I think $429. Now a PF that is almost 1/2 the weight and quite smaller is $599 just a few years later.

Labor costs ultimately offset any material costs reductions.

The cost of pieces isn't as big a factor as having all that I want...

For those curious, if you google "statue bubble" this is what comes back.
...and "statue bubble bust" gets you this.

Price of materials is only one factor in overall pricing. Overseas shipping, labor costs, overall intricacy and level of detail on the actual statue, how many molds need to be made etc, etc.

I still think there is a bit of "cashing in" being done since these types of collectibles now have a much larger market with Comics and anything affiliated with them have become part of pop culture. You can't tell me the cost of producing a statue has gone up 60% in the last 3-5 years. Well you can tell me but I wouldn't believe you.
