Thanks for the photo's. Any concerns I had about a bug-eyed Eomer just went out the window. He looks really good in that close up shot.

I am a bit concerned about the paint app's on Firefoot however, as his colouring looks nothing like that of the real horse. At least not in any pictures I've seen so far.

This is a dapple grey stallion.

This is Firefoot, a dapple grey stallion

And this is Weta's version of a dapple grey stallion.

The only thing missing in Weta's statue is a dapple grey stallion named Firefoot. The generic horse they opted to go with does look good though.....

Sadly, its a pass for me. I like the ES, price is fine and the sculpt itself looks fantastic. But I can't justify paying $700 only to pay someone to repaint the horse so it actually looks like Firefoot.

I love this piece personally. The fact that the markings aren’t exactly like the horse we saw on film doesn’t really bother me. In fact, had you not pointed it out I’d never have noticed.

I'm pretty sure Weta is aware, considering the fact they played such a large role in the movie production. I can't say for sure, but I suspect the complexity of Firefoot's coloring may have been more than Weta was willing to tackle. But as one who is cursed as a stickler to detail, I would no more buy a statue of a horse that doesn't look like the one in the movie, than I would a statue of a movie character that looks nothing like the actor. Now if this one were to fall through the cracks and be available for Black Friday I certainly would reconsider.
