“Ad Astra” - 3/10.

Did I walk into a Terence Malick movie with a strange performance by Pitt? Snoozefest with questionable plot lines towards the end that had you thinking distinctly of two other movies.

Robinhood 2018 - Trash outta 10

- Jamie Fox was collecting a paycheck on this one

- The plot was by the numbers

-Dialogues were full of cringe

- Editing was terrible and the movie was glued together and had no cohesiveness.

- Robinhood in a modern setting but still in an old setting was extremely jarring.

5/10
A visually beautiful movie but a very thin story. Most of the movie is the journey in which the protagonist is just a passenger. Very little directly drives the plot. While the story is original, it is comprised of story elements done before. Echoes from 2001, the Martian, Gravity and I am sure from sci fi books. For those who are science savvy, will appreciate the details in some places but then be annoyed other obvious lack of realism. This is truly a Bratt Bit vehicle. Expect little from supporting cast Donald Southerland, Tom Lee Jones, Ruth Negga and Liv Tyler. Tyler’s involvement is just as incidental as Evangeline Lily in Hurt Locker.

interesting. Scores of 3, 5, and 8 for Ad Astra. Big swing in opinion.

A great, tense thriller. Cinematography and score are top notch, as are the performances. Very interesting and engaging narrative that keeps you on your toes throughout without being cliche or predictable.

Sicario: Day of the Soldado - 8/10

Respectable follow up. Measuring up to the first film was a tall order but I didn’t expect it to be honest. I loved how the characters developed and I’m really hoping we get a third film because I definitely think there’s more meat on this bone.

Just saw these 2 over the weekend. I wouldn't rate them as high as you did, probably 8 and 7 but damn well worth watching.

The Day the Earth Stood Still 2/10

This is the remake with Keaunu Reeves. I was told by people I trust this was awful so avoided it all this time but then it was on Starz and I wasn't doing anything so watched it. Wish I had that 2 hrs back.

I think I gave Sicario an 8 the first time I watched it too. This was my second viewing and I actually appreciated it’s complexity a lot more. Watching both films back to back likely increased my enjoyment of Soldado too.

A 7 for me. A very quiet, internal thought piece. On the other hand, how many films have an exciting rover chance and gunfight on the surface of the moon?
