I received this two days ago with great anticipation...and trepidation considering the discussion on the forum regarding the T-Rex's head paint. My initial thoughts unpacking the statue were underwhelming, not by the head paint job. I'm happy to report the "dots" did not negatively affect my perception of the head. It looks good, much like others who have posted positive observations.
No, my initial "underwhelming" thoughts were based on the size. I knew the dimensions of the piece before hand, but for some reason, I thought it would be larger. Yet, having written that, the statue has really grown on me over the last two days.
Without a doubt, the best way to display the statue is either at eye level, or just below eye level. I have it on a tiered shelf that is part of my home office desk. It looks GREAT when I sit down at the desk and pour over the details - the slick tongue, sharp teeth, the wicked "little" arms, the ripples of skin. The pose is fantastic. The paint application is great.
This is my second piece from Chronicle (first being the Terminator Endo Skull). Not that it hasn't had its share of growing pains, but I look forward to Chronicle doing future pieces that interest me - say, some scaled velociraptors to go with this Breakout.
Not sure if number series has anything to do with differing paint quality, but mine is number 14.
