I managed to sneek a real cool pic of my Galactus bust into my business website. Most people don't even know what he is though

of course, i just want to share some things with some friends

but actually, its not so clear cut as that. A photographers work is purely their own, until they sell the rights to it. In the case of a trademarked character, it depends on if the work is considered fine art, or advertising.

yes but even if its fine art they could come after you, however since most people aren't going to make any serious money off that type of thing I don't think they care.
