I've got the others, but I wasn't aware of the Mandrake one. I may have to look that one up.

I have been picking up the new releases of the Doc Savage double novels, and enjoying them. I would really love to see Doc Savage back in the comics again though. I loved what Marvel did with him years ago, especially in the black and white magazine. I would love to see Marvel do him again. Unfortunately Big John Buscema is gone. Now, I think I would like to see David Finch draw him. As to writers, I am open, as long as they capture that old pulp flavor.

Mandrake, Phantom, Flash Gordon... seeing all of them together again reminds of The Defenders of The Earth.

I have the first 13 issues of Moon Stone's Phantom and it's meh... i dropped the book at issue 13.

I was aware of the Prince Valiant and Phantom books but was unaware of the Mandrake and Flash Gordon books. I wonder what motivated Marvel back then to bring these great characters back?

Derdevil, you should try and find the Dark Horse Doc Savage minis from a decade back they were excellent. There was even a Doc Savage, The Shadow team-up mini that rocked.

Since this is Statue Forum and we're talking old-school heroes, I picked this guy up a few months back. Limited to only 50 w/ the Blue Suit. Figure you guys would appreciate him.

Dark Knight....I kind of remember Defenders of the Earth...was it a cartoon?

My "old school" sensibilities want to see Barbara Gordon up out of the wheelchair and back in her Batgirl suit... where she belongs.

But I'd want to be the one writing it.

and i want to be the first one who protests this.

No. it's a sin to undone Killing Joke. This would damage Joker's credibility as a villain. Don't take Joker's "achivements" as villain from him. And let an really good old story has an actual impact on mainstream universe for once for god's sake.

Jason is beyond enough already.

And I really like Barbara, she is cool as oracle, birds of prey rocks.

I could go on for pages and pages debating you about what's made Oracle stale for years now but I'll just summarize everything you've just written with:

You're wrong.

Especially the "damage Joker's credibility" part.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.

But, you're perfectly free to be as wrong as you want to be...

That's the beauty of living in a free society.
