Meh, saw it, was okay. Dracula as superhero and action movie. More a romantic hero than the cold blooded monster of Stoker's novel. Chalk it up to another Dracula movie finding mediocrity at best.

Joe - I didn't think it was that bad. If it does tie in with the upcoming Universal Monsters re-boot & when one considers that they have centuries of potential backstory to address, I think this series may have potential. Maybe they just had to get the backstory & the romantic drivel out of the way first.

Do you have more info on the Universal Monsters reboot? I gave up hope after The Wolfman seemed to sputter in the theaters. Is there a plan here.
Jerry, I was hoping the end of this would allow for a sequel that goes back to Stoker's story. But the modern ending and Dracula's more or less good and heroic nature in this film, as opposed to the driven monster in Stoker's book, killed that hope for me.

I think what they did w/ Untold, was to take the Coppola/Oldman Dracula film and just kinda dumb-down the opening where Dracula looses his wife & curses himself, at least that's what it felt like to me. Still, I feel there's hope -

The love story in the Coppola/Oldman Dracula killed this film for me. This is not the Stoker Dracula vampire. He is a driven, intelligent and strategic monster, most accurately played by Lugosi's character or even (though more two dimensional) in Nosferatu. He is not a tragic, romantic figure. These approaches make no sense to me and are disheartening, again, to me, given my love for the original source material.
