Excellent finale. Kind of sad to see Rust & Marty's story come to a close, but wow was that an intense conclusion. I will truly miss these characters and their interesting relationship.

This series was so complex and layered that it was easy to get a bit carried away with all the potential angles and possible conclusions. I way overanalyzed aspects myself but I think that's part of the fun of something as cerebral as this. It makes you think.

I have a feeling some people might be disappointed at the lack of a big reveal at the end but I certainly wasn't one of them.

I expected much more from the finale. What I really wanted was a little background info on the killer. I'd like them to show some of his past. I don't get how this guy was able to create such a mythical persona. You talk about him to certain crowds and they act like he was a god. He just came off as another redneck psycho in the end. I wasn't shocked by anything in the finale and that's what I wanted. I said right before the show that I wanted my mind to be blown, and it didn't come close. Overall though, the series has been great. I think the ending would have appeared better if the last two episode were combined into a 2 hour finale. I just think it would have had a different feel and you wouldn't already know who the killer was.

Decent finale, but I would've liked more answers. I'm not talking about revealing everything, just some of the important aspects that I think they should've atleast glimpsed on. I'm not sure how that hillbilly was the yellow king, and why on earth anybody, especially people of high power, listened to him. Was he just crazy or did he actually possess occult knowledge?
Also, what was that cosmic space hallucination Rust saw down in the yellow king's lair? So many questions...

Good interview with the creator of the show, answering some questions.

Stylistically and emotionally, I liked the finale (that shot of Rust staring into the void was pretty cool), but I agree with others: I was disappointed that we got very little additional information on the "Yellow King" and this massive conspiracy. Why were so many people in positions of power going to such extremes to cover for this guy for so many years? I can make all kinds of assumptions off of the info we did receive, but it would have been nice to get something more concrete.

Well, information other than he fools around with his half-sister and can impersonate Cary Grant...

I give the finale a 6 of 10.

I personally thought the ending was perfect. I'd gladly watch this show on a loop for a year it was that good. Plan on watching all right episodes again over the weekend as I'm sure I missed out on stuff. The acting was of the absolute highest calibre from both leads. I hope both get their rewards come Emmy and Golden Globe season. Outstanding and next year has a lot to live up to.

I thought the final episode had a vide of Se7en and Texas Chainsaw.

^ agreed, on all points. Speaking as someone who has already viewed the entire season twice, with the exception of the final episode, this is very re-watchable. I look forward to owning this when it hits BD. It's one of the few series or movies where I'd actually dive head first into the extras.

As for the final episode itself, the fact that it leaves you wanting more speaks to how engrossing it was. I found it to be a very grounded and realistic conclusion especially considering this was a case that spanned 17 years with murders tied to it that spanned at least three generations. Just like in real life you're never going to get all the answers. To me it actually makes it even creepier that every angle wasn't exposed.

The show's definately top notch, no doubt about that, and I don't want everything exposed, but if you're gonna set something up in previous episodes you should atleast have some sort of pay off for it.

I'm sure it will. In the meantime I'd highly recommend staying out of this thread to avoid potential spoilers. I'd hate for the experience to be ruined for anyone that hasn't seen the series.
