My issue with this is Doom will probably remove his mask constantly throughout the films because its RDJ.

Well, Disney stock is pretty terrible now and the best "Marvel" movie they have had in a while is something that's filled with Fox characters. I'm sure they wrote a nice check to RDJ and the Russo Bros. but I think they should have had a sense of desperation long before now.

A valid concern and I feel the same way

My original reaction was rolling my eyes at the idea of an evil stark being doom. I wouldnt like them not keeping doom his own character but the concept does make a lot of sense and would make him a formidable opponent without having to go through the exposition of introducing a new villain and why they are a threat

I do not know if that is the direction they will take but so far the Russo brothers havent let me down so I will give them the benefit of the doubt

I expect them to do a alternate reality "evil Iron Man" a bit as there are just too many parallels between the 2 men in iron using their intellect as normal men to chase god like power whatever their goal.

Yes Doom is generic power hungry bad guy but c'mon most are. They have a problem as I'm sure all along everyone has doubted they would even get to Infinity War. little alone to keep going past it.

The Marvel movies have been getting pretty far out there for general audiences so along with actor problems they probably decided to pull back from all the Kang time travel multi-reality nonsense.

Remember the general audience "normies" are the ones that pay the bills for these movies not knowledgeable fans. Having RDJ helps a lot.
They're too desperate right now to pass on the marketing bump but for myself, much like Palpatine, I really wish they'd left this as a spoiler at least until right when the movies was releasing.
Also because general audiences will be asking "-huh? Me no understand" the whole time leading up to the movie's release.

^ Yeah for sure. Honestly though Superhero flicks, just like "action" genre movies in the 90s have become victims of their own success. It's all just retelling the same story over and over again.

As a result of comics attempting to be an ever going concern, comic-dom is littered with literally TONS more crappy comic story lines than good ones. To keep going, the movies won't be any different.

My initial gut feeling is this is a bad idea. It would have been nice for a new actor to take on Doom and make it his own (I was thinking maybe Daniel Craig or Jon Hamm). Oh well. I guess we'll see if they can execute it effectively.

Feel the same way. Why double-dip when there are dozens of other actors out there that could put a cool spin on Doom. Silly move.
