Cyborg 009

The Cyborg 009 TV series from 1979 is one of my favorite anime shows.

I am so dissapointed that it has never been released on DVD.

Does anyone know if it will be available on DVD?

or if there is a version available somewhere with english subtitles?

Rider you are the lucky one here.

Because you speak japanse.

There is a japanese release of the 1979 TV series, they do cost 90.00$ per DVD and you only get like 5 Eps. per DVD. So it is expensive.

America should get more licenses for the 70's and
80's anime show's.

Alot of the best anime is from those decades.

I know Cartoon Network showed a couple of episodes, if not the whole series a few years back. There's also a newer version of Cyborg 009 out, with better graphics. Check out ebay. There are usually some sellers who sell dubbed versions of anime (mostly counterfeits) and www.discountanimedvd.com. They have huge inventory of anime, manga, and toys. Good luck. This is a great show. Let us know when you do find one.

Space adventure cobra is also a classic.

This box set is not good according to this guy that reviewed chinese version though.

"OverAll : The worst quality of picture I ever saw of my life. It was transferred from very used VHS. No english subtitles as advertised. Mere bootleg of the worst quality, they didn't even took the time or money to find the laserdiscs as source for the transfer. When you compare with the cheap french set, there's no comparison : picture is amazingly better."

No subtitles and poor VHS trasfer.

Even the french has produced a Cobra DVD box and if the french can you would think that America could too!

Oh I wish I speak full Japanese, I can only comprehend so much to connect the plot and characters but to be able to enjoy the show you need to understand every details...

And yea for some reason Japanese DVD is expensive like sh!t, a 26 episode box set of anime sometime contains 8 or 9 discks and cost over 50,000 yen which is $500 usd...

Apparently this guy is putting his review focus on the quality instead of how good the show was, what was he expecting? There's not official license in no dumb@ss chinese version, that had to be a bootleg, and he probably got it for dirt cheap, too...

He said there are no subtitles either even though it is stated that there should be.

I have tried that with a DVD it stated japanese language english subtitles, when I recieved the DVD it had no english subtitles but it had chinese subtitles.

BTW.
That DVD I bought was not from discountanimedvd.com
