Trying to forget that film! LOL
But it made a cameo in that warehouse yes.
No burned box if I recall, but that means little in fictional creations done years apart.

well not necessarily. if in fact the crate at the end of ROTLA did indeed burn from within. wouldn't the wooden crate be burned as well in KOTCS?
i would think so. if it isn't then that would give us an answer somewhat.
or did it burn in that scene from KOTCS?

To show that even though it "blew its lid" earlier it still has powers.

If I recall the unburned crate was accidentally broken open during some kind of action scene and you got a glimpse of the ark inside.
Now that would be a test of my memory, because I only saw that film once.

But I don't think anyone thought it was a one time only use Ark
I just can't see them using the 'same cool scene' twice in the same movie. It would be like Indy shooting the swordsmen in the market, and then doing the same thing again at the end.

I've seen it a few times (no, I don't know why) and I think you're right. It's in the opening scene when he's being pursued through the warehouse by Cate Blanchet and co.

Sometimes American films get edited in foreign nations.
I knew a Pakistani guy that said even TV shows that showed kissing was not to be shown and you would see the actors start to get close then, poof, they are backing away again. The Ark is a religious iconic item of course, I suppose it's possible someone might have wanted to get a dig at the United States by editing in a little propaganda with a reel of their own ran at the end. That is stretching very hard though for an explanation and why put it at the end when everyone probably had left? Maybe if they had no editing skills, and I would only expect something like that to be done in a nation that had issues with the US at the time.
Certainly not Australia unless they got hold of some prints from other nations where such a thing might have been done. Again, really stretching here for some explanation.

Well, you can't rule out anything 100%, but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced it never happened.
It's one of those cinematic mysteries, like 'what was in Marcellus Wallace's breif case' ?? or 'why do people keep making Adam Sandler movies' ??

Good question

In the same boat here - I am pretty positive it just didn't happen.
