So funny... a guy down the street from me's also from Oregon, and we both talk about how much we miss it up there.. where California people are always saying "what's there to miss? You can't beat California's weather!"
I've lived in the sun my whole life, between here, Hawaii and Guam.. I'd rather move back to the East Coast (lived in Virginia) than stay here another ten years; all my high school/college buds are here, but.. f#ck 'em.
Realistically, though.. it'll be the NW that I move back to. I came down often enough to see them when I was up North.. that's not a big deal.
I live in one of the nicest areas of California; beach right next door, but trees are gone to make room for Yuppies movin' in everywhere, and someone actually shook my HAND for waiting two minutes holding the door open for them at a store... chivalry's dead here.
Not all, but a lot of people here have their heads up their @sses, and there's NO sense of neighborhood... in San Diego we had it, but that was 20 years ago.
California's great, but I miss the Seaports, the rain, the snow, and the community you get when you're in the Northwest.
