Unpublished Hellboy by Mignola
Forgive me for being wordy but..
Since 2015 I knew that Mike Mignola was going to be in town for last year's convention and I was looking forward to finally having a page from his Hellboy.
I was set on getting a page. There were a few nice ones left from Hellboy in Hell after being picked through (I was 6th or 7th in line), but I kept flipping back to the sleeve this was on.
It was a bit higher than the budget I set which I had to think real hard if I wanted to because I also wanted A) a Goon page form Powell and B) an OA from Darrow. Both of whom were set up to his right and left respectively and made that corner on the floor the best one on the show.
After an embarrassing attempt at negotiating a lower price (figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a shot) I went home with this.
I saw that the published page was for sale (I forgot where but it is with a new owner now). I did a double take because it was so similar except for the published cover, Mike showed more right hand of doom and his tail and also lesser houses.
So fun to go through and get such a big want but I don't think I can go through with such a big purchase every year. I'm just not there yet. Happy to own this though.
