Was someone playing with the lighting and color correction on your video camera in the beginning or was I having a stroke?

FYI: Although you can display the sword inside of the shield like you've shown, there's also a slot for the sword on the back of the base, or at least that's what I used it for

Something like Milliput would do the trick to fill the gap, but the real challenge would be paint matching the original application and applying it in a manner that would result in a seamless look. Not easy to do.

I have zero experience with it but I've seen others use apoxie sculpt for something like this. And you would need to sand/paint after being done.
