Same. It's actually cheaper to buy movies/TV shows on Blu-ray or DVD than to pay for multiple subscription services (and not have enough time to watch everything offered anyway).

I noticed that as well. Seems to be the way a lot of action/sci-fi TV shows are going now.

Totally . I compare it to an almost Amazon Headquarters kind of scene. Modern society throughout the pilot seemed to be more "our-world" than the futuristic society sometimes demonstrated in TNG.

I had no idea the character (Kirsten Clancy) and actress (Ann Magnuson) playing the Starfleet Commander-in-Chief was previously on TNG. Regardless of her present position and rank to address one of her former commanding officers as depicted, she should be launched out of a photon torpedo tube. No need to wait until she dies.
