, I think our first sun has that covered;
Last Year: The Warmest On Record (Again)
Every January for the past decade, you've heard the same basic news story: It announces that last year was one of the warmest years on the planet since 1880, when record-keeping began in earnest.
Well, it's January, and yes, last year was one of the warmest years on record since 1880. In fact, 2010 ties the record with 2005 as the hottest year in the historical record.
"This continues a trend that has gone on for several decades," Arndt said. "This is the 34th consecutive year with temperatures above the 20th century average."

When this fuel runs out the star will literally collapse in upon itself and it will do so very quickly,” he said. The subsequent explosion will appear tens of millions of times brighter than the sun, meaning 24-hours of light on Earth.
“It goes bang, it explodes, it lights up," Carter said. "We'll have incredible brightness for a brief period of time for a couple of weeks and then over the coming months it begins to fade and then eventually it will be very hard to see at all.”
And while the celestial event could take place before the end of 2012, it may not occur for a million years.

It could take less than a year....or...it could be a million or so.
I love when science narrows it down for us.

Yeah, odds of seeing this happen in our lifetime is about as good as me becoming a chinese jet pilot.
But we may have some other astronomical surprise or two.
