Stripping a Statue
Hey guys I was looking to do some custom work on one of my Kotobukiya Fine Art Pieces and wanted to strip the statue.
I've heard Acetone baths work really well as well as the oven degreaser in a zip lock bag technique. Had a look at John's tutorial videos ( which btw are the best) which are a great help, Thanks John!. Was having trouble finding large cans of acetone and stumbled across a hardware store that had Cans of paint remover.
Does anyone have any experience with using those on statues and would they damage the statues in any way? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Cheers!

I've got a 5 gal bucket at home that I've dumped this stuff in

an overnight bath and bit of gentle scrubbing with a old toothbrush and should be good to go
works like a charm BUT get some resistant gloves - this doesn't go nicely with your skin, getting that tingly sensation isn't a good thing

Thanks Meta Jon. Yeah looks like I'd might have to give that a swing. Would prefer a quick option but yeah failing that might just give it the degreaser treatment.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I'm still looking for a safe way to strip a PVC figure/statue. I've yet to locate an answer.

For how long should I leave the statue in the Zip Lock bag if i were to use the Easy Off Oven cleaner method? Need it stripped down to the resin.

I don't think you can. PVC is quite soft. I just clean prime and paint mine.
Here is my Domino custom:

I used to use oven cleaner. It definitely takes longer to strip a piece. I would recommend acetone. Way faster. Just make sure you have pans to use, a few pairs of gloves, brushes....do it outside. Make sure you have a water bath too. And don't do it in a windy spot or the acetone will just evaporate.
