Sculpting wax and crayons

Aside from adding color, does adding crayons to a firm wax make it softer?

Because of the main ingredient in crayons.

If your base wax is inherently hard or a mix with higher proportion of hard waxes, the crayons get to dilute it.

Hard sculpting waxes are typically natural carnauba, candelilla or polyethylene in a higher proportion than the rest of components. May contain other types.

Paraffin is one of the principal constituents of crayons. Dramatically softer than the aforementioned waxes.
