Auntie Em.. Auntie Em! Where's Country?

Hey Country and all other MO dwellers... how are you holding up after the tornadoes yesterday?

All your cars still on the lot, Country (HHR's in particular )?

Hope you are all well.

This may be a stupid question, but in tornado zones, how come houses aren't rebuilt better to withstand them? More like the "terra firma" houses, brick construction/partially underground?

Hey........Here in KC,MO.....survived the storm. Some hail damamge on my wife's new Ford Escape. I think the damage caused by tornados is hard to guard againsts due to the strong neg. pressure that builds up. Causes the houses to implode. I am not an enginer, so I have no clue what would help prevent damage.

Sorry 'bout the hail, but glad you made it! KC got hit pretty hard, right?

Mostly wind, rain and hail. As far as I know all tornados were east of us.

They were but I think 3 people were killed in Missouri yesterday. Going through the paper now. My kids and I spent some time in our basement when the sirens went off. The hail was pretty big, about nickle or quarter size by me, but the news was reporting baseball size hail in other places. This stuff really scares my 10 year old, my 13 year old just was aggitated that he couldn't get on his damn XBOX Live while we were watching the news to track the storm.

Thanks, Primal. I just finished reading about the storms. Pretty severe, where the tornados touched down and high winds hit. The roof was torn of the Great Wolf Lodge here in KC and two people were killed when the twisters went right through their homes. Lawrence, a pretty populated college town (KU) only about 1/2 hour from me and Mike, got hit directly as well. On the news they actually showed the clouds beginning to funnel over head in KC, MO but fortunately they never turned into tornadoes.

This is seriously scary stuff. My 13 year old, all cool and aloof, complained that these warnings are stupid as nothing ever really happens. I tried explaining that these storms and their directions are random, and just because we haven't been hit yet since we've been here (1997) doesn't mean we might not be hit. Unless he experiences it, himself, though he's at the age where it's not quite real. Can be a little frustrating.
