You're not an actor obviously and he is, so I don't think it would be that hard for him to play Stark. I liked him in Zodiac and he did a great job in that, even though his character was a smart ass in that too

I mean I can't think of a single case in which an actor's death prior to the release of a film has helped it financially, in fact more often than not it has the opposite effect.

Had Ledger not died I think it still would have made just as much money, but of course that's all speculation, just as this kind of thing always is, and none of us will ever know for sure. But that's my take anyway.

I think the media speculating as to whether HL's role as the Joker crept into his personal life attracted a lot of folks to the movie just out of morbid curiosity. His face as The Joker was plastered all over the media when the reports of his death hit.
