She isn't invincible and generally fights super power enemies. Depending on the writer her durability varies so having armor, bracers and a shield aid in that. My sense is the film version cannot take gunfire without it hurting or possibly killing her.

Yep, the first movie showed that bullets can tear through her skin...
Although I do understand why some people would think otherwise, in the comics she's basically a female Superman, nothing seems to hurt her and she can fly...

Even though Wonder Woman has been upgraded power-wise over the years, even in the comics she has limits and can be felled by a stray bullet.
