I hear you. If you factor everything in, from price increases to the currency, to shipping and customs rates, Ebay's GSP scheme, etc, the same class of product (premium formats for example) now costs double what they cost just 3 years ago. It's ludicrous. It's the perfect storm of price increases.

FedEx only. I NEVER ship through UPS through USA. It's a scam company which I took them to BBB to get half my fees back.

I hear you - and am with you.
I stopped buying from anyone on eBay that uses the GSP because items were not worth the extra money.
Over the last year, I passed on over 6k's worth of collectibles from Sideshow & BBTS that I WOULD have bought if they were more reasonably priced and the exchange rate didn't suck so much.
The question has ALWAYS been the same - do I like this enough to pay the total price it will cost me?
Due to the factors mentioned above, I'll be buying less and less going forward.

That's it. I ask myself the same thing these days too, and the answer is no most of the time.
Something's gotta give. Either prices have to level out, or the currency has to rebound a little, otherwise I'll be buying a couple of pieces a year at most, whereas I used to get 15-20.

Actually wanted to add to my post some other info:
1. Located in Toronto
2. Dark Phoenix EX ordered
Statue was worth paying the exorbitant amount for duties and fees as I LOVE how it turned out.
Going forward - I'm going to be super SUPER picky if I decide to buy from Sideshow again, if EVER.
That is all..

I can't argue any of this on the customs, duties, taxes, handling fee fiasco!
But I got a piece from Tsume today, $0 at the door. Nice.

Here's the ONLY piece I have remaining on pre-order from Sideshow (and I would NOT have paid full price - halved the cost with reward points etc.)
Sideshow 1:2 scale LSB Wolf Predator bust
- Sideshow price = $650 USD
- CDN conversion rate 1.34 = $871 CAD
- BC GST adds 12% to $871 = +$105 CAD
- New import duty adds 6.5% to $871 = +$57 CAD
- Shipping guessed at $80 USD x 1.34 = +$107 CAD
Total cost of $1140 CAD !!!!!
