What is the single scariest film you've ever seen?
With Halloween coming up, I'm itching for some scary movies. So what's the one film, more than any other, that got under your skin and stayed with you.
What's the single scariest movie you've ever seen?

Well, this would have to be a "scary when I saw it" type of thing, but either Exorcist or The Fog. Both scared the crap out of me when I saw them and had a lasting effect for a while.

I saw "Psycho" at a friends house as a kid (12-13 range) and every shower after that for a good month was bit tense. Some films spook me, but others like that linger with dread and stay with me.

When I was a kid it was Halloween, Friday the 13th part 2 where he jumps through the window at the end, and there was some movie called Rawhead Rex (I think) that creeped me out for some dumb reason lol.

Not much anymore but as a kid it was Hellbound: Hellraiser II. The scene in the Asylum where Julia comes out of the mattress was completely horrifying.

I get a lot more scared with realistic horror vs. supernatural horror. So, I'd say one of them for me is the original Saw. I also love (and get creeped out by) the 2003 version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I know many people might hate it since it's a remake, but I find it very disturbing.

As daft as it might sound, Paranormal Activity 2 tops the list. I had to turn the damn thing off during the scene were the camera is positioned behind a female looking out of a window. I couldn't handle what might / might not happen next, so i hit the stop button, never to return to it. For the record, i've seen many horror movies.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original) is another horror that made a hefty impact on me. While there's little in the way of gore, the mood from the moment that guy hitches a lift makes the viewer feel uneasy. Once inside that house, it feels real, not a movie set.

I saw this one for the first time last year. It's actually an abysmal movie, but I can understand being freaked out by it if you watched it as a child.
