I’ll watch over the child from a distance. I will build a shelter across the Dune Sea from the Lars homestead. Close enough for me to sense any danger to the boy. Far enough away that the Empire may not discover him if they find me.
I have already established a link with the spirit of my Master, Qui-Gon. His teachings endure from beyond the netherworld of the Force. There is a measure of comfort to be found there. Someday, when my task is accomplished, I might be able to join him in that place.
But for now, I feel old. Old beyond my years. Desert life ages flesh and spirit, so I can only expect this to worsen the longer I remain on this world. The Tatooine storms whip me with sands like a scourge. Each night I hear in the winds the howls of my murdered Jedi kindred.
I already wrestle with the weariness. The loss of my friend to this evil creature who has replaced him fills me with bitterness. I must remember the words of my master, be mindful of the future, but not at the expense of the moment. The boy is what matters. He IS the future. I failed Anakin. But I’ll not fail Luke. The son of Skywalker must become a Jedi.
The second entry into Sideshow’s Mythos line is this stunning piece. Ben Kenobi Mythos takes you on a voyage in time after the Revenge of the Sith and prior to A New Hope. Portrayed as a desert nomad wandering the
Jundland wastes of
Tatooine.I cannot help but feel a little bit of excitement every time I look at this statue. It harkens to ones imagination of the adventures and unseen and untold parts the epic story that is
Obi-Wan Kenobi. Among his belonging's you will find a
Cycler rifle and a
Gaderffii stick Trophies of survival in the desert obtained from his confrontations with the
Tuskens.
His battered armor from his earlier service in the
Clone Wars adorns his pack and is reminiscent of the trials and tribulations of a more youthful Ben Kenobi which is also displayed in one of the two portraits the statue comes with. The bandoliers slung across his shoulder chronicle his interactions with the desert scavenging
Jawas. Also included in detail are small corked bottles, ropes, a grappling hook, A
Hyperwave transmitter surely for staying a step ahead of the Empire. Strapping his hip in yet even more detail is a pair of
TD2.3 electrobinoculars ideal for the harsh desert climate also a pair of
Flash goggles slung around his neck an item that would sure to be handy in desert survival and would accompany the use of the salvaged Cycler rifle.
As if that wasnt enough extra detail to take in among his trappings of survival in the
Dune Sea Ben also carries a rolled
Jerba skin rug. As a memento or perhaps a more functional purpose Obi-Wan has at the ready by his side the
Lightsabers of his former fallen master
Qui-Gon Jinn and friend turned
Darksider and
Sith Lord Anakin Skywalker. From the simulated desert sand that makes up the base of this statue to the
Jedi utility belt and the portraits of Sir Alec Guinness as Old Ben Kenobi Ewan McGregor’s youthful version of the iconic Jedi this statue packs a punch!!!
