You guys probably have collected the DC Bombshell series. Very popular series and personally I love that style. The statues are a little too cartoony for my taste but the pose and the legs really sexy. Lots of sex appeal.
Anyhow, that's why the feet are that way. Again, it's all about the legs. Okay, and the boobs too, but legs position tends to be my major focus.
Thanks, -Wei

I absolutely love Gil Elvgren! And as a fellow admirer of his art, especially the posing of the legs and feet, I hope you'll give some thought to possibly making Athena barefoot, or perhaps wearing open-toe sandals instead of boots, so less of the ankle - foot area is covered.

Pin-Ups, Strippers, and Porn Stars do this all the time to make their legs look better even when it makes no sense.
I DO really like the idea of having more of these be barefoot as it is interesting, fits the characters, relives the stress of coming up with some kind of relevant footwear and cute girls usually have cute feet. No that doesn't mean I have a foot fetish.
Every part of a girl can be wonderful and everybody likes boobs but I think a great lower body can trump a nice rack. A girl's hips, rump, and legs really define a majority of her body.

I prefer the classical look too, but I love the arched feet aesthetic. Ballerinas wouldn't look as graceful if they just walked around on stage, heh.
Great pin-up style for the Hera sculpt. Very sexy, mature look. Definite buy. And Hecate ... can't wait to see it! (My favs are Athena and Hecate. Arachne and Circe, too, but they're not goddesses.)
Best of luck! Hope you sell a million! =)

Love this line of statues thus far. I'm a sucker for the arched feet.. and if the face on Athena is as nice as Hera then this will be awesome. I look forward to Aphrodite!

I agree a woman's arched feet does add a sense of grace and eroticism. No argument there. My concern isn't with that at all. I suggested to maybe have her trailing foot in a resting position because it's physically awkward/uncomfortable to balance one's body weight entirely on the balls of their feet. Go ahead, try it!
Since Elvgren's illustrations were used as an example...Yes, his ladies' feet are arched but I mostly see the ladies supporting their body weight in some other fashion. They're standing on high heels or sitting down or lying on their back, etc. Also, I'm no expert on ballerinas but I think they have flat surfaces on the tips of their shoes so they can balance on their toes and keep their feet arched for longer periods of time.
In Athena's case, she's balancing her entire body weight on the balls of her feet with no support from heels or anything else. That was my main problem with her feet in the first place. Not how they're arched. I realize the point of this line is "sexy" but just wanted to offer my two cents on maybe adding a little realism in that area.

Good point. I've consider myself an amateur photographer and really, any pose that looks good on a women is extremely uncomfortable=). It's funny because it's really hard work to twist that hip, arch that back, point those toes, and smile at the same time. I'm laughing just thinking about it. Yes, the Athena pose was difficult for my model, especially on the arched feet. But it was worth it=).

Well, in the limited time I have, I've been able to get about one a month. The next one is for my own series. It's going to be a samurai. For the Greek mythology series, we've haven't decided which one. Maybe Aphrodite.
I've thought about Medusa, and was thinking of a way to make it more 'legs' and less 'snake.' The snake to me is rather boring.
Anyhow, too early for that as I've just started on my samurai....female of course, with cast-off=).

In response to Wei's original question...
It's looking better at this stage than the Hera statue. I was initially a bit dubious of the Hera statue, but let's just say the final design tweaks & colouring mean that I am currently trying to get Yamato's web site to accept a non US order - without success thus far, but that's by-the-by.
Regards,
Richard
