Im not really a Star Wars fan and stopped watching any of them after the new remake of a new hope with Rey, but this new one seems meh. Just throw in emerpior to get old school fans to spend money.
I dont get why Disney didnt put Luke Leia, Han etc. all together in one last hoo rah and then introduce the new generation. I always wished for the Expanded universe with Mara jade, so not bothering with these movies.

Yeah that's the benchmark to reach for... how about trying to make a move where most people loved it, that might be a better goal... Johnson is a hack of a director and I hope his next movie bombs hardcore so Disney drops his trilogy deal.

I find it funny because what occurred in TLJ was basically Luke following prequel Yoda's path.
"Into exile I must go, Failed have I."
And then not wanting to train another Jedi.
"Too old, yes told is he to start the training."
None of it was really that surprising, unless you already had a scenario in your head that the film should follow.

I know this isn't "hard sci fi", but can someone explain to me how the First Order put the Empire to shame in terms of resources? They brush off losing a planet sized weapon like it was nothing and in this trailer they has at least a hundred Star Destroyers in one spot. All this to wipe out...a few dozen rebels that can all fit on the Falcon?
The world building in the new movies leaves me confused. The original was simple, but it made sense.

I think this will be another modern movie where the directors, writers, producers or whoever, have to explain the movie months after it's release.

I wish someone would explain how turning a planet into an ultimate weapon makes any sense? After you absorb the energy of the planet's star, the planet is done anyway. It's not a self contained space station, it's a planet. Without the gravity, heat and light of the local star, the planet is unable to support life. It also can't travel (for the same reasons), so once it loads up and shoots, it's dead in the water.
NOTHING made sense in these movies.

Yoda went into exile because the Emperor and Vader (backed by hundreds of thousands of clones) were hunting down all the Jedi...
Luke went into exile because he failed his student(s)?!? not really sure because they were a little vague with the details... like pretty much everything in the movie.. All we really know is Luke wanted to kill Kyle because he thought he was falling to the Dark Side, although we were never shown exactly why he thought that. Not to mention it was completely out of character for Luke to want to kill him.. Hell Luke tried to save Vader, you don't think he would of tried to save his Nephew?
Story aside, the fact is Rian like JJ tried to use a lot of imagery from the first 3 movies... That tells me they had a lack of imagination for this trilogy.. You have the original 3 actors and this is what we got? JJ has done some good stuff but he's had his share of failures also... They should of brought in talented writers instead of letting the directors write the script themselves...
Anyways it's rather moot anyways, the TFA made over 2 billion and TLJ made like 1.3 billion so there really is no reason for Disney to change direction, if this 3rd movie tops a billion will have to put up with Kennedy's Agenda and B.S. for the foreseeable future..
