I've wondered, when you get to this caliber of costume, prop design, & beauty, are the cosplayer themselves super-fans of the character they're dressing as? Do the Power Girls read & collect Power Girl comics? Do the manga-inspired or game-inspired cosplay beauties spend hours reading manga or playing the games?
I never see 'em at my local lcs or up at Gamestop when I take my kid.
If not, what's the motivation? Are there modeling representatives haunting cons? Do they drum up some sort of side jobs? Is it about just the attention at big cons?
Don't get me wrong, I love this thread & enjoy the cosplay at conventions, just wondering about motivation.
