What movies were you watching . . . the transfer can make a big difference, and as has already been posted, so can the TV. Is it connected via composite or HDMI (also makes a diff).

And definitely get your eyes checked. My brother wasn't overly impressed with blu ray on his PS3 until he discovered he needed glasses. Now he raves about the quality

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Get Public Enemies on Blu Ray. Shot with digital cameras I believe, some of the interior scenes look a bit muggy, but the exterior stuff scorched my retinas it was so detailed.

The difference should be night and day with the setup in question. I'd lean towards the settings on the Blu-ray player and/or the television not being adjusted to the proper resolution.

The Geek Squad at Worst Buy are a joke. The few I've encountered are lazy and aren't at all interested in helping you maximize the potential of your setup. Most just want to get the equipment into your home and setup as quickly and effortlessly as possible.

Is this have an hookup using the HDMI cable? also I presume its a 1080p HDTV as well? what kind of blu-ray player? Are you comparing the Blu-ray versions to DVD versions on a player that upconverts dvds to 1080p?
