I'm hoping it'll look better in person, since I'm going with the SS version.

I can’t get over the creative liberties XM took with the costume. The style is like nothing I’ve ever seen in print and I don’t like the fact that a good portion of it is metal. Also not a fan of the unnatural divided look to the defined muscles. Everything else is cool and overall it’s still a very nice looking piece but at XM prices it needs to be perfect.
Sideshow’s piece on the other hand hits all the marks for me. I even prefer the smooth/dull look to his organic steel frame as it provides a greater contrast with his trademark fabric style costume. Plus, those boots! That’s the Colossus I know and love. Would’ve liked to have seen his 90’s shoulder pads too but the design is still iconic and for that it’s the clear winner in my eyes.

I went back and forth with the details on both of them, I did notice on XM that the lines don't match up on his skin like each muscle group has its own lines but that didn't really bother me much. The legs look the same length on both (maybe SS is just a tad bit longer), I think the long boots on SS gives the illusion of longer legs.
I think what swayed me finally was XM just had a way more realistic looking metal paint scheme and portrait, whereas SS looks more animated with its portrait and dull paint. So that basically just comes down to personal preference if you want him to look more realistic or look like he jumped out of the comic books...
That said, I was tempted by SS version mainly for the savings but I just don't think he would have fit in look wise with the existing X-Man statues I already have or pre-ordered. If SS had given their Colossus a rock/sentinel base and a more realistic metal paint application I would have probably bought that one...
So far on my shelf is SS Wolverine, SS X-23, XM Storm, XM Dark Phoenix & eventually XM Cyclops... These all have more of a realistic look to them with their outfits and portraits so ultimately it came down to that plus they all have rock bases with most also having Sentinel parts on them... After Colossus, that should leave me room for 1 more, possibly two if I find one with a really small base, I might consider SS Mystique if I can find her for a really cheap price in the aftermarket.
Like others have said, you really can't go wrong with either one, it's just a matter of personal preference...

Yeah the Sabretooth and Colossus from SS and XM are tough to choose for me, I think I'll wait to see in hand pics first.

That's how I feel as well. The Sideshow piece has a great sculpt, as does the XM, but overall it feels really lackluster for a Colossus statue, especially when compared to how dynamic the SS Gambit and Rogue are.
I'm definitely mixing and matching my Xmen pieces.
